I've been blessed to have had the chance to work with a number of wonderful vocalists. Barbara is one of the best... I first became aware of her in 1985 while working on the title track of the movie "Armed & Dangerous" with Atlantic Starr. She has a distinctive tone that cuts through all the music around her & she added the shine needed inside the stack of vocals.
In 1989, Maurice White brought me in to co-write/co-produce material for Barbara's first solo album. I found her dedicated, easy to work with, & fun to hang with. She took direction well, so the tracks were finished quickly.
In 1994, I was approached by my friend jeff Weber to co-write & produce some material for Barb on her album "Seeing for the First Time". Ross Vannelli & I co-wrote & produced a song, while Maurice & I co-produced the track "Love of My Life". Again, she was a total pro.

In 1996 I was working on my own album "All Things in Time". I co-wrote a track that commented on the difficulties of making ends meet during a time of inflation & discrimination titled "Changing Times". The lead vocals were shared by a male & female. Keithen Carter was a friend of mine going back to my days in Chicago. The next call (after Keithen jumped in ) was made to Barbara. She agreed, & the two voices worked well together. We added a gospel choir to the vamp out, & Joe Vannelli gave us a great mix.
Update: there is a chance that this song will be used as part of the soundtrack of an upcoming movie sometime in the next 2 years... (fingers crossed). 😀
